The Quantum® Cell Expansion System is an automated cell culture platform that can help simplify the open, labor-intensive manual tasks associated with flask-based culture.

The Quantum system helps support your ability to consistently produce a safe and effective cellular therapy through:
  • Expansion of adherent and suspension cells, as well as plasmid transfections and viral transductions
  • Cell doubling times and cell quality comparable to manual flask-based culture
  • Production of cells with consistent yields and cell quality
  • Maintaining cell characteristics consistent with flasks
  • Stable cell culture environment for both hypoxic and normoxic conditions
  • Software features aid in Part 11 current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) compliance

Enable reproducible, scalable processes:

When comparing mesenchymal stromal cell production in flasks versus the Quantum® Cell Expansion System, automation showed an 88% reduction in harvest time and labor hours.2

Reduce variables in the work path and improve efficiency:

Use of an automated bioreactor closed system has been shown to increase yields and reduce growing times for a variety of cell types. In one report, City of Hope generated a GMP-grade lot of clinically viable neural stem cells within nine days with Quantum, compared with six weeks using cell factories.1

Reduce open events with a closed cell culture environment:

The closed environment of the bioreactor remains intact during the cell culture process, eliminating open events and hands-on tasks associated with manual flask-based culture. One study from Baylor College of Medicine Center for Cell and Gene Therapy showed a 99.8% reduction in open events when using Quantum compared to an equivalent flask-based process.2

Expand multiple cell types with Quantum:

  • Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)
  • T cells
  • Fibroblasts
  • Dendritic cells
  • HEK 293T (for viral vector production)

Performance varies by user and is dependent on customer processes and materials.
